The Veil

My notes are in the brackets in italics

“But their [the unbelieving jews of old] minds were hardened. For to this day, when they [the unbelieving jews] read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted [they are blinded, incapable of understanding Gods word], because only through Christ is it taken away [the veil of the OT was used to separate man from God’s holiness in the Holy of Holies]. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts [the veil has now been used 3 ways in this passage to show a blinding of the mind, heart and eyes]. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed [how?]. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom [by giving us His Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit]. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord [Jesus] who is the Spirit.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:14-18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their [the unbelieving] case the god of this world [satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them [the unbelieving] from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light [walk in light, not in darkness as 1 Jn says] of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:3-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬
